ZERO, the technological daybed concept Fanstudio, the designer furniture studio will present their third collection in 2013, The Zero DayBed. Zero Daybed is inspired by tropisms-- movements that plants experiment in their need of adapting themselves to different environmental conditions, a natural movement of plants that open and close, and turn to capture sunlight and protect themselves from rain, wind or the night. The Day Bed has a 2.20m diameter with a reclining back and turns 360º to obtain the best orientation. It is enveloped by a segmented shell made out of glass or carbon fi ber, which will withdraw or unfurl to the user’s choice. It is entirely made out of anodized aluminum, stainless steel, glass and carbon fiber and wrapped with exquisite Italian textiles. Zero presents itself before our eyes like a space to relax and enjoy at any time of day or night, alone or in company. In addition, hidden under the central area of the mattress, you will find a retro-illuminated champagne bucket, making this elegant Daybed into a lamp, excellent for indoor and outdoor locations. An exquisite operation of sophisticated engineering and an immaculate plasticity turn this Zero product into an exclusive and unique piece in its category. Due to its recent repercussion in both luxury and design media, this project has quickly become the star collection of the Spanish design studio, placing the day bed as an iconic next generation design. It has been featured in prestigious blogs such as Lancia Trendvisions, and received international coverage in key publications such as Interior Design, amongst others from Hong-Kong, Dubai and Miami: The Zero Day Bed has gone international. The spectacular acceptation of this product by possible clients from all around the world has initiated the development of a second version, a fully technological day bed, with smartphone, tablet and laptop docks, an integrated high quality audio system as well as automated mechanics. It is an object that transcends the traditional design concepts by focusing on a holistic experience, rather than just another piece of design furniture. It is a project that demonstrates that the concept of comfort and quality, merged with passion and hard work gives rise to objects that evoke change, evolution, and of course, a new way to understand design.
